The Integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools have become a norm in virtually every sector of the global economy and in Educational sector with its potentials and intervening challenges. This study underscores the importance of AI Literacy in teacher education and innovative technological development in Africa. The study reveals the need for educators and relevant government agencies to prioritize the adaption of AI innovative tools in teacher education to enable teachers integrate meaningfully AI tools in education to enhance teaching and learning environment create innovativeness and bridge digital divide. The study showed that AI provides analytical tools, empowering teachers to make real time students’ data analyses thereby saving time for teacher to engage in other meaningful pedagogical activities, provide tools which automate pedagogical instruction and administrative processes making learning more engaging and ensuring organizational efficiency. Moreover, the study revealed that AI tools empowers teachers to personalize learning, provide targeted support , enhancing accessibility to learners which makes room for students with learning disabilities to cope in education, provide data driven insight to improve on teaching strategies. AI tools also makes learning to be motivating and engaging empowering teachers to equip students with skills and knowledge to feature credibly into future workforce. However, the study identifies challenges AI integration into Education poses which include potential data biases, ambiguous bride of intellectual property IP rit, ethical issues such as unlawful exposure of students personal data, over dependence on AI which can undermine teacher student interaction needed for emotional support, creative thinking, problem solving skills which could impair students’ performance in real world, trivializing of teachers role in education with consequential job loss to robotics using AI technologies in education. However, the study recommends in-job training to teachers on the use of AI in education, stressing the need to strike a balance creating synergy in education between AI integration and real time teacher inputs in education and also ensuring AI governance to regulate data storage and retrieval.
Key words: Physics, AI, digital divide, data-biase, Intellectual property.
