Youth unemployment is a problem in north eastern Nigeria especially Borno state. Negative effects of unemployment such as underdevelopment and increased crime rate has continued to bedeviled the entire region in the past decade. As a result, it became necessary to find solutions to the issue of youth unemployment in the state. No doubt, Animal Agriculture have reduced unemployment in many parts of the world (Africa inclusive), although the skills need to be ascertained before it is adopted as a tool for employment. Two research questions were posed to guide the study while two null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. A total of 121 consisting of Agricultural science lecturers (77) and extension agents (44) was the population of the study and because of the manageable size of the population used, the entire 121 respondents were involved in the study. Structured questionnaire as instrument for data collection was validated and established at coefficient of 0.72. All data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for answering the research questions. In conclusion the study identified employable skills required by the youth in Animal Agriculture. The study recommended among others; Government should adequately provide funds for training/retraining of Agricultural science lecturers and extension agents in animal agriculture production to enable them master the skills to step it down for the youth.
