ABSTRACT
Despite the strategic importance of the petroleum sector to Nigeria’s economy, employee productivity in many refineries remains below expectation due to poor motivation, stressful working conditions, and inadequate welfare packages. In KRPC, concerns have been raised regarding whether existing fringe benefits such as paid vacation, stock options, and life insurance are sufficient to enhance employee performance and organizational efficiency. The study therefore investigated how these fringe benefits influence employee productivity. A survey and cross-sectional research design were adopted, and primary data were collected using structured questionnaires from employees of the organization. The findings revealed that paid vacation significantly improves productivity by reducing stress and improving work-life balance. Stock options were found to enhance employee commitment and ownership behavior, while life insurance had the strongest positive effect by providing financial security and reducing anxiety. The study concludes that fringe benefits significantly enhance employee productivity in KRPC. The study recommends improved welfare policies to sustain productivity levels in the organization.
