Track: Inclusion, Equity and Digital Access
The study examines the nexus between inclusion, equity and digital access in Sub-Saharan Africa, with emphasis on the extent to which disparities in digital infrastructure, affordability, skills and socioeconomic conditions shape access to digital technologies and services. Despite the rapid expansion of mobile connectivity and digital platforms across the region, significant gaps persist between urban and rural populations, income groups, genders and other socioeconomic categories. The study seeks to assess the determinants of digital access and evaluate how digital inclusion can promote equitable participation in economic and social activities. Using relevant secondary data and appropriate econometric techniques, the study will investigate the relationship between digital access, socioeconomic conditions and inclusive development across selected Sub-Saharan African countries. The findings are expected to provide evidence for policymakers on strategies for reducing the digital divide, improving affordable and reliable connectivity, strengthening digital skills, and promoting equitable access to digital opportunities. The study contributes to the growing literature on digital transformation and inclusive development by highlighting the importance of addressing structural inequalities that constrain meaningful digital participation in Sub-Saharan Africa
