Track: Inclusion, Equity and Digital Access
This study investigates digital equity in Nigerian higher education, with a focus on establishing a Students' Inclusiveness Network (SIN) as a framework to enhance equitable access to digital learning opportunities. The study will specifically examine students' access to digital learning resources, the hindrances to students' participation in digital learning, the existing support systems, and propose an inclusive network model that will promote access to digital learning. Using a cross-sectional survey, data will be collected from students of selected universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria through a structured questionnaire. While Descriptive statistics involving mean and standard deviation will be used to analyse the research questions, regression analysis will be employed to test hypotheses at a 0.05 significance level using SPSS. The study will give empirical data on digital inequality types and levels obtainable in the Nigerian higher education context and also design a Students' Inclusive Network framework that includes: Infrastructural students' support, low-network-connection scheme, accessibility to devices and gadgets, and inclusive students' support services. The findings will contribute to the formulation of policies and strategies for promoting digital inclusion and ensuring equitable access to digital learning opportunities for all learners in Nigerian higher education institutions.
