Track: Inclusion, Equity and Digital Access
This is an age where the generation, creation, access and or the dissemination of information across the globe through digital technologies has gained currency. The unequal access to digital resources including information resources continues to create disparities among individuals and communities. Inclusion, equity and digital access to information are related concepts that seek to ensure all people, regardless of socioeconomic status, gender, age, disability, geographic location, or cultural background, can effectively participate in the digital world. This paper examines the concepts of digital inclusion and equity, explores barriers to digital access, and discusses strategies for promoting equitable access to information. The study highlights the importance of affordable internet connectivity, digital literacy, accessible technologies, and supportive policies in bridging the digital divide. It concludes that achieving digital equity is essential for social justice, economic development, educational advancement, and democratic participation in the twenty-first century.
