Track: AI, Emerging Technologies and Future Learning

The integration of emerging technologies into education is rapidly gaining momentum worldwide. In science education, these technologies play a significant role in enhancing teaching, learning, practical activities, and assessment processes. A wide range of digital tools are now available to support science instruction and improve learners’ engagement and understanding. Some of these technologies are highlighted in this paper. Despite their numerous benefits, the adoption of emerging technologies in science education presents several fundamental challenges, including issues related to accessibility, infrastructure, teacher preparedness, equity, and sustainability. This paper examines these challenges and discusses their implications for shaping the future of science education. It further explores strategies for ensuring the sustainable use of emerging technologies in educational settings. The paper recommends that teacher educators, students, educational institutions, policymakers, and other stakeholders collaborate to address these challenges effectively. In addition, governments at all levels should ensure the availability of technological resources and promote equitable access to support effective science teaching and learning for a sustainable future.
