Track: AI, Emerging Technologies and Future Learning

This study examined the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) use on students’ effective learning in Kwara State Colleges of Education (COEs), Nigeria. It adopted descriptive research design of survey type. The population of the study comprised all the 4,500 students in the three Colleges of Education owned by the Kwara State government. Proportionate sampling technique was used to select 354 students, using Krejcie and Morgan table (1970) for sample size determination. Impact of Artificial Intelligence Use on Students’ Effective Learning Questionnaire (IAIUSELQ) was used to collect data for the study. The instrument was validated and its reliability test via the use of Cronbach’s Alpha produced a reliability index of 0.85. Mean, Percentage, and t-test were used to analyse the data. The findings of the study revealed that AI provides students with ample access to online materials to support their learning, helps students to correct grammatical blunders, assists students to lay hands on unlimited materials for their projects, helps students to solve Mathematical problems, and enables students to acquire skills on how to paraphrase borrowed ideas. The study concluded that AI helps in enhancing effective students’ learning in Kwara State COEs. It was recommended that the management of the Kwara State Colleges of Education should periodically organise AI workshops and lectures for students to acquaint them with various available AI tools and equip them with the skills required to utilise those tools to enhance their effective learning.
