This study investigated the influence of resource-efficient educational technology on learners’ engagement in tertiary institutions in Lagos State, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. A total of 250 respondents comprising 200 final year students and 50 lecturers sampled from five selected tertiary institutions in Lagos State using multistage sampling technique. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to the respondents, with the instrument distributed and retrieved via Google Forms to enhance efficiency and accessibility. The data collected were analyzed using simple percentage, mean score, and standard deviation to determine the patterns of responses and the degree of relationship between resource-efficient educational technology usage and engagement-related outcomes. The study further present findings on the level of students’ engagement associated with the use of resource-efficient educational technology, and based on these findings, recommendations were provided to guide tertiary institutions, educators, and other stakeholders on effective strategies for adopting and integrating resource-efficient educational technology to improve student engagement especially in learning environments characterized by limited resources. The study concludes that resource-efficient educational technology positively influences students’ engagement in Lagos tertiary institutions, especially by improving participation, attention, motivation, and interest. It further indicates that limited funding, poor infrastructure, unreliable electricity, and high data cost can hinder effectiveness, though the challenges can be addressed. Therefore, tertiary institutions should adopt offline-friendly and low-bandwidth tools, train lecturers for effective integration, provide accessible learning resources, and guide students on proper usage, while future research should broaden coverage.
