Track: AI, Emerging Technologies and Future Learning

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is accelerating digital transformation across the banking sector, yet many initiatives fail to achieve their intended outcomes due to ineffective project management. This study proposes to evaluate the effect of project management practices on AI-enabled digital transformation in the South-East Regional Offices of selected Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria. Specifically, the study examines the influence of project integration management, project stakeholder management, and project risk management on the successful implementation of AI-enabled digital transformation initiatives. Guided by the Dynamic Capabilities Theory, the study will adopt a descriptive survey design, targeting managerial and professional staff involved in digital transformation projects. Data will be collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The study is expected to generate empirical evidence on the project management practices that drive successful AI-enabled digital transformation and provide practical insights for bank executives, project managers, and policymakers seeking to enhance innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainable competitiveness in Nigeria's banking industry.
