ABSTRACT
The growing use of artificial intelligence and digital learning platforms has transformed education, but it has also increased energy consumption and environmental impact. This paper explores how combining AI-driven educational technology with renewable energy sources can create smarter, more sustainable learning systems for the future. The study reviews current approaches to AI in education, focusing on adaptive learning, automated assessment, and personalized content delivery. It then examines how these systems can be powered and optimized using renewable energy technologies such as solar and wind. By integrating energy-aware AI models and edge computing, educational platforms can reduce their carbon footprint, lower operating costs, and extend access to off-grid and low-resource areas. Findings from existing pilot projects show that renewable-powered AI systems can cut energy use by 25–40% without reducing learning performance. These systems also improve reliability and scalability, making quality education more accessible to diverse learners. The paper concludes that aligning AI and renewable energy offers a practical path toward inclusive, low-carbon education. It provides recommendations for designing energy-efficient learning platforms, adopting sustainable infrastructure, and guiding future research on Green AI in education. The work highlights that technology and sustainability can advance together to shape better learning outcomes for the next generation.
