Track: Digital Transformation in Higher Education

The implementation of digital transformation and smart learning ecosystems is key to change higher education and learners’ readiness for the digital economy, which has contributed to growing investments in educational technologies. This paper provides an empirical investigation of the influence of digital infrastructure and institutional support on innovation capability and workforce readiness among business education students. The data were collected from business education students using both structured questionnaires and interviews. The study adopted multi-stage sampling techniques to ensure increased representation, validity, and generalization of its findings. The outcomes of the study from both inferential statistics and thematic analysis revealed that digital transformation and smart learning ecosystems contribute to learner-centeredness, innovative capability, and workforce readiness skills among business education students. The study provides valuable insights for practical policy implications that will help in narrowing the digital divide and contributing to the sustainable development of human capital in Africa.
