Track: Digital Transformation in Higher Education

Digital transformation has become a significant catalyst for change in higher education, influencing teaching, learning, research, and administrative processes. The integration of digital technologies is gradually shifting educational practices from traditional teacher-centered approaches to more flexible, interactive, and learner-centered models. This transformation has the potential to enhance students' engagement, improve access to educational resources, and support learning beyond the conventional classroom environment. This study seeks to examine perceptions of the impact of digital transformation in higher education institutions in Gusau, Zamfara State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study aims to explore stakeholders' views regarding the influence of digital technologies on teaching effectiveness, student learning experiences, institutional efficiency, and access to educational opportunities. The study also intends to identify the challenges affecting the adoption and implementation of digital transformation initiatives within higher education institutions in the state. A descriptive survey research design is being employed, targeting academic staff and students from selected higher education institutions in Gusau, Zamfara State. Data are currently being collected through structured questionnaires. The findings are expected to provide insights into the current state of digital transformation, its perceived benefits, and the barriers limiting its effective implementation. The outcome of the study is anticipated to contribute to policy formulation and strategic planning aimed at strengthening digital transformation initiatives in higher education institutions within Zamfara State and Nigeria at large.
