This study examined the determinants of cryptocurrency investment intention among students of Kaduna State University, with a focus on financial literacy, perceived risk, and social influence. Anchored on Ajzen’s (1991) Theory of Planned Behavior, the research adopted a quantitative survey design. The target population comprised 2,359 students from the Faculty of Management Sciences (2024/2025 academic session), from which a sample of 430 respondents was drawn using the Krejcie and Morgan (1970) table and adjusted by 30% to account for potential non-responses and deviations. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression. The results revealed that financial literacy (β = 0.296, p < 0.01) and social influence (β = 0.641, p < 0.01) positively and significantly influenced students’ cryptocurrency investment intentions, while perceived risk (β = -0.068, p < 0.01) had a significant negative effect. The model explained 68.4% of the variance in investment intention (R² = 0.684). The findings show the importance of financial literacy and social influence in shaping investment behaviors among university students, while perceived risk acts as a barrier. The study contributes to knowledge by highlighting behavioral and cognitive determinants of cryptocurrency investment intentions in the Nigerian higher education context and offers practical implications for financial education and digital investment initiatives targeting students.
