Track: Digital Transformation in Higher Education

Digital transformation is reshaping higher education globally and creating new opportunities for enhancing teaching and learning. In Nigeria, mathematics education remains fundamental to scientific advancement, technological innovation, and national development. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited technology integration, poor student performance, and traditional teaching methods continue to hinder effective mathematics instruction in higher education institutions. This paper examines how digital transformation can reimagine the future of mathematics education in Nigerian higher education. It explores the role of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, learning management systems, mobile learning, and mathematical software, in improving teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes. The paper highlights opportunities such as increased access to quality education, personalized learning, enhanced student engagement, and the development of digital competencies. It concludes that sustained investment in digital infrastructure, curriculum innovation, educator training, and supportive policies is essential for transforming mathematics education and preparing graduates for the demands of the digital economy.
