Track: Digital Transformation in Higher Education
The digital divide remains a significant barrier to inclusive and equitable higher education across Africa, particularly in Political Science instruction where access to information and civic knowledge is essential. This qualitative study appraises the extent to which higher institutions of learning in Africa are bridging digital inequalities and promoting inclusion, equity, and access for all learners. Using a thematic analysis of scholarly literature, policy documents, and institutional reports, the study explores the opportunities and challenges associated with the integration of digital technologies in Political Science education. Findings reveal that while digital innovations have enhanced access to learning resources, encouraged collaborative engagement, and expanded educational opportunities, disparities in infrastructure, connectivity, digital literacy, and socioeconomic conditions continue to limit their effectiveness. The paper argues that sustainable investments in digital infrastructure, inclusive policies, and capacity building are critical for ensuring equitable participation and improving learning outcomes. It concludes that bridging the digital divide is essential for fostering democratic citizenship and educational transformation in Africa.
