Track: Digital Transformation in Higher Education

Research productivity is a critical indicator of academic excellence and institutional effectiveness in higher education. The availability of digital infrastructure, including internet connectivity, digital libraries, research databases, and information communication technologies, plays a significant role in supporting scholarly activities. Despite growing investments in educational technology, many Colleges of Education in Nigeria continue to face infrastructural challenges that may affect research output. This study investigates the influence of institutional digital infrastructure on research productivity among academic staff in Colleges of Education in Nigeria. A cross-sectional survey design will be adopted. The study population consists of academic staff in federal and state Colleges of Education, from which 500 respondents will be selected using multistage sampling techniques. Data will be collected using the Digital Infrastructure Assessment Questionnaire (DIAQ) and Research Productivity Inventory (RPI). Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analyses will be employed to analyze the data. The study is guided by the Resource-Based Theory, which emphasizes the importance of organizational resources in achieving institutional performance. Findings are expected to reveal the extent to which digital infrastructure predicts research productivity among lecturers. The study will provide empirical evidence for policymakers, institutional administrators, and development partners on the need for strategic investment in digital technologies to enhance research capacity, innovation, and knowledge production within Colleges of Education. The findings are expected to support ongoing digital transformation efforts in teacher education institutions across Africa.
