Abstract
The paper explores how learner-centred pedagogy in literature teaching can be advanced through digital innovation in contemporary higher education. In many literary studies classrooms, teaching remains largely teacher-centred, with emphasis on textual explication and passive reception of meaning. However, the emergence of digital technologies offers new possibilities for transforming literature instruction into an interactive, participatory and student-driven process. Using constructivist learning theory and reader-response theory, this study argues that digital tools such as e-learning platforms, multimedia resources, digital annotation applications and online discussion forums can enhance student’s interpretative engagement with literary texts. These technologies encourage collaborative meaning-making, critical thinking and deeper textual analysis by positioning learners as active participants in the construction of literary meaning. The paper further identifies key challenges, including limited digital literacy, infrastructural constraints and resistance to pedagogical change among instructors. It concludes that effective integration of digital pedagogy in literature teaching requires curriculum redesign, sustained teacher professional development and institutional support to achieve meaningful learning outcomes.
