Track: Digital Pedagogy and Teaching Innovation

This paper examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the delivery of teacher education in Nigeria. With the increasing integration of AI technologies in educational systems worldwide, this paper evaluates the roles AI tools and platforms play in the implementation of dual mandate policy in teacher training, and curriculum development in Nigerian Colleges. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected through surveys and interviews with faculty, students, and policymakers to assess AI’s role in enhancing teaching effectiveness, administrative processes, and educational access. The findings highlight both the opportunities and challenges AI presents in improving policy implementation, including issues related to infrastructure, digital literacy, the adequacy and readiness of the manpower to adapt to current global realities. The study underscores the need for capacity-building initiatives to better harness AI’s potential in teacher education, ensuring its sustainable integration into Nigeria's educational system.
