Track: Digital Pedagogy and Teaching Innovation
This paper examines the transformative role of digital pedagogy and teaching innovation in advancing learner-centered pedagogies within contemporary higher education. The increasing integration of digital technologies into educational systems has created opportunities for more interactive, flexible, and personalized learning experiences that place learners at the center of the teaching and learning process. Drawing on emerging developments in educational technology, the paper explores how digital tools such as learning management systems, artificial intelligence, virtual learning environments, mobile learning applications, and collaborative online platforms can enhance student engagement, knowledge construction, critical thinking, creativity, and self-directed learning in Nigera's higher Institutions arena. Shifting from traditional teacher-centered approaches to more participatory and technology-enhanced models, digital pedagogy fosters active learning and supports the development of competencies required for success in the twenty-first-century knowledge economy. This paper further investigates the opportunities and challenges associated with the implementation of digital innovation in higher education institutions. While digital technologies have the potential to improve access to quality education, promote inclusivity, and facilitate lifelong learning, their effective utilization is often constrained by inadequate technological infrastructure, limited digital literacy, unequal access to digital resources, and resistance to pedagogical change. The paper argues that successful adoption of learner-centered digital pedagogies requires strategic institutional support, continuous professional development for educators, and sustainable investment in educational technologies. It concludes that digital pedagogy and teaching innovation are critical drivers of educational transformation, capable of enhancing learning outcomes, improving student participation, and preparing graduates with the skills, adaptability, and digital competencies necessary to thrive in an increasingly interconnected global society.Keywords: Digital Pedagogy; Teaching Innovation; Learner-Centered Learning; Technology;
