This paper explores the integration of AI-powered tools in French language instruction within South West degree-awarding colleges of education in Nigeria. With the increasing adoption of technology in education, AI-based tools are being leveraged to improve learning process, enhance learning outcomes and facilitate personalized learning experiences. The study examines how AI tools can be used to improve French language acquisition, provide real-time feedback, and foster a more interactive and engaging classroom environment. By investigating the current usage of AI, the research highlights both the benefits and challenges faced by educators and students. It also explores the potential for AI to bridge the gap in French language proficiency, particularly in rural and underserved areas. The findings indicate that while there are challenges, such as infrastructure limitations and resistance to change, the integration of AI tools has the potential to revolutionize language instruction in Nigerian colleges of education.
