Track: Digital Pedagogy and Teaching Innovation

The recent advancement of digital technologies has transformed educational practices worldwide, creating opportunities for innovative pedagogical approaches in science education. Chemistry, a subject often perceived as abstract and challenging due to its reliance on complex equations and laboratory-based activities, can benefit significantly from the integration of digital tools into teaching and learning processes. This paper examines innovative pedagogical strategies that utilize digital technologies to enhance chemistry instruction and improve student engagement, conceptual understanding, and academic achievement. The study explores the application of virtual laboratories, simulations, interactive multimedia, learning management systems, mobile applications, artificial intelligence-powered learning platforms, and collaborative online tools in chemistry education. These digital tools facilitate visualization of chemical processes, support inquiry-based and student-centered learning, and provide opportunities for personalized instruction. Furthermore, they enable learners to conduct virtual experiments in situations where physical laboratory facilities are inadequate or unavailable. The paper highlights the role of digital pedagogy in promoting active learning, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and scientific literacy among students. It also discusses the challenges associated with the adoption of digital tools, including inadequate infrastructure, limited digital competencies among teachers, unreliable internet connectivity, and insufficient institutional support, particularly in resource-constrained educational environments. The paper concludes that effective integration of digital tools into chemistry teaching can significantly improve learning outcomes when supported by appropriate teacher training, investment in educational technology infrastructure, and the development of context-specific digital learning resources. It recommends continuous professional development for chemistry educators and strategic policies aimed at fostering technology-enhanced teaching and learning in science classrooms.
