Track: Digital Pedagogy and Teaching Innovation

Digital innovation has become a critical catalyst for educational transformation in higher education institutions worldwide. In Nigeria, Colleges of Education are increasingly integrating digital technologies into teaching, learning, research, and administrative processes to improve educational quality and institutional performance. Despite growing investments in educational technologies, empirical evidence regarding the extent of adoption and effectiveness of digital innovation in Colleges of Education remains limited, particularly in Northwest Nigeria. This study quantitatively assesses the level of adoption and effectiveness of digital innovation in Colleges of Education in Northwest Nigeria. A descriptive survey research design was adopted. The target population comprised academic staff, administrators, and students from selected Colleges of Education across the seven states of Northwest Nigeria. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings indicate a moderate level of digital innovation adoption across institutions, with significant variations in technology utilization, digital competence, and institutional support. The study further reveals a positive relationship between digital innovation adoption and teaching effectiveness, student engagement, and institutional efficiency. Challenges identified include inadequate infrastructure, limited funding, poor internet connectivity, and insufficient professional development opportunities. The study recommends increased investment in digital infrastructure, continuous capacity-building programmes, and the development of comprehensive digital transformation policies to enhance educational outcomes in Colleges of Education.
