Track: Digital Pedagogy and Teaching Innovation
The application of digital technology in educational service delivery at the Federal College of Education (F.C.E.), Obudu, Cross River State, Nigeria, faces several challenges. These hinder effective utilization of digital technology in educational service delivery at the institution. This study examined issues related to teachers' digital preparedness, students' digital literacy, the digital divide, and technical constraints. Four research questions guided the study, while four hypotheses were formulated and tested using the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient at the 0.05 level of significance. The study used survey design. The population of the study consists of 450 lecturers and 1200 students. A sample of 45 lecturers and 120 students was randomly selected, and data were collected using two sets of questionnaires. The findings revealed inadequate digital competencies among teachers, limited computer literacy among students, significant digital access disparities, and persistent technical challenges. These factors collectively impede the effective integration of digital technology in teaching and learning in F.C.E. Obudu. The study recommends improvements in teachers’ digital pedagogical preparation, introduction of digital literacy to learners at the secondary school levels, and deliberate government efforts at reducing the digital divide by providing free digital access for technology-driven education.
