Track: Digital Pedagogy and Teaching Innovation
The Boko Haram insurgency has severely disrupted teacher education in Borno State through displacement, infrastructural destruction, and declining learning outcomes. This study examines the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-supported pedagogical innovations in enhancing teacher education in conflict-affected environments. Using a quasi-experimental mixed-methods design, data were collected from 120 pre-service teachers in Colleges of Education and selected learning centres within IDP camps. Findings indicate that AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, Google Classroom, and adaptive learning platforms improve pedagogical competence, learner engagement, academic performance, and psychological resilience. The study further reveals that AI-supported learning environments help address trauma-related barriers through personalized and flexible learning experiences. The study recommends integrating AI technologies into teacher education programmes to strengthen educational resilience and post-conflict recovery in Borno State
