Description
The CERN OpenData project has made a huge amount of LHC data open to the public for use in education, outreach, and research. This data, and the related analysis tools provided by the experiments, can be used in our teaching to give students of all levels hands-on experience in data analysis and introduce them to modern particle physics methods. In this talk, we will show several examples of OpenData exercises that we have developed for use in our classrooms, and discuss the varied pedagogical goals of the exercises, target student groups, and classroom implementations.
