Description

PriNCe

PriNCe (Propagation including Nuclear Cascade Equations) is a code that describes the propagation of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs), including photodisintegrations of nuclei, by solving a time-dependent system of differential equations for each of the particles species involved. The code is based on the work Astrophys.J. 873 (2019) no.1, 88 and is available on github.

This tutorial aims to introduce the code assuming basic knowledge of UHECR propagation and python. The examples provided in the code are discussed and including the basics like installing and setting up the code.

Materials: A pc with access to internet should be sufficient, I will discuss using the code on remote computation resources like Google Colab. However feel free to download the code and test locally in advance so you can ask questions that may arise during testing. The github repo is https://github.com/joheinze/PriNCe but if you get errors try the more recent version I have forked and tested https://github.com/mohller/PriNCe).
