In this talk, after a brief introduction to the cosmic neutrino background (CNB), we summarize the methods proposed in the past few decades for its detection. Then we explain a novel method via the parametric fluorescence induced by the CNB in a cold atomic or molecular system. The challenges for an experimental realization of such an idea and possible backgrounds are discussed as well. The future detection of CNB will not only further verify the standard Big Bang cosmology but also offer a new way to probe the absolute scale of neutrino masses and the Majorana nature of massive neutrinos.
