How to get to Bristol?
- Bristol has its own airport
(BRS) but it is not served by transatlantic flights. - If you're travelling from the US or somewhere without a direct flight to Bristol, there are a number of options:
- Fly to London Heathrow (LHR)
and take the National Express
coach (direct) to Bristol Bus & Coach Station. Coach leaves outside Terminal2/3 and takes just over 2h. (Note: coach is cheaper and direct, while train requires going via London Paddington and changing there.) - Fly to Birmingham (BHX)
and take the train from Birmingham International to Bristol Temple Meads station (requires one change at Birmingham New Street and typically takes just under 2h) - Fly to Bristol (BRS)
via e.g. Amsterdam or Dublin and take the Airport Flyer Coach
or a Taxi to Bristol city centre.
- Fly to London Heathrow (LHR)
- For both National Express Coaches
and trains
it is recommended to book well in advance as tickets will be significantly cheaper. Coach is usually quite a bit cheaper than train. For trains, return tickets are often just marginally more expensive than a single journey.
