The conference will take place in the city of Lamia, Greece.
Brief Historical background
The city of Lamia is located on the slopes of Mount Othrys, amphitheatrically built between two hills, Kastro (east) and Agios Loukas (west) and also close to Sperchios river. The A1 motorway, which connects Athens with Thessaloniki, passes through Lamia.
According to mythology, Lamia was built by Lamos, the son of Hercules and Omphale. Another version is that it was built by Lamia, the Queen of the Trachinians, daughter of Poseidon.
The word "Lamia" is etymologically related to "laimos" or "lamos", which means chasm, abyss or even insatiable, gluttonous. It is known that a large and deep stream passed through the city. On the northeastern side of People's Square, excavations for reconstruction revealed a deep gorge with running water.
Historical-archaeological research in the distant past highlights the long history of Lamia and other areas of the Municipality as cities with a special administrative or commercial and communication role (Amphichyony/passage of Thermopylae in ancient times - Center of Commerce in Byzantium and the Ottoman period). The historical investigation of the development of the Municipality and the city proves that Lamia has always been a regional center with an important role in the development of the Greek area.
It has also always held an important role in the administration of the region and concentrated in its urban fabric the trade, processing and professions that characterize urban growth and development.
