Description
Neutron scattering is a versatile probe for a variety of condensed matter systems, and the ability to control and distinguish the spin of neutrons during the measurement process allows more detailed information to be obtained for both magnetic and non-magnetic samples. At the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS), we are able to offer neutron spin filters on six different neutron scattering instruments, and this capability has been used in investigate systems such as altermagnets, high-temperature superconductors, and liquid polyelectrolyte solutions.
This presentation will outline recent upgrades to our polarised neutron measurement capabilities, and give an overview of recent results including the first measurement of magnon spin current polarisation reversal for a spin-Seebeck material when crossing a compensation temperature, in addition to studies of chiral magnet systems, and a new technique to distinguish coherent and incoherent scattering contributions for polymer dynamics in the quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) regime.
