Description

We present a dynamical mean-field study of the Hubbard–Holstein model in the strong-coupling regime. We demonstrate that the interplay between local spin and charge fluctuations, driven by strong electron–electron and electron–phonon interactions, stabilizes commensurate charge-density-wave order over a broad range of electron densities. Remarkably, this phase persists even at fillings that are incompatible with conventional checkerboard charge order. By analyzing the symmetry-broken phase, we gain further insight into the thermodynamic properties and energetics of this state. Using inhomogeneous dynamical mean-field theory, we identify the physical mechanism responsible for stabilizing the charge-ordered regime.
