Description

In this work, we investigate the impact of radiative corrections on the ratio of the semileptonic decay rates $\Sigma^{\pm} \to \Lambda \ell^{\pm}\nu$. Experimentally, the measured ratio suggests the presence of sizable radiative corrections. From a theoretical perspective, this observable is particularly attractive, as several hadronic and electroweak contributions partially cancel in the ratio, leading to a cleaner probe of electromagnetic effects. We identify the dominant contributions to the radiative corrections and establish the framework for a dedicated calculation. This study constitutes a first step toward a more precise theoretical description of hyperon semileptonic decays and will help assess their potential as precision tests of the Standard Model.
