Conference Venue

The meeting will be held at the Konkoly Observatory on the "Buda side" of Budapest. The observatory is located in the nice and quiet Normafa forest a few kilometers west from the city center (see red circle on the Google map screenshot below). It is very easy to reach by public transport, with buses running every 5 to 10 minutes.

Lodging options

There are no hotels or b&b nearby the workshop venue. In general, it is most convenient to book an accommodation near the 21/221/212 bus stop or along the M2 line (see below "How to get there"). Here we list some suggestions close to Széll Kálmán tér:

Mercure Castle Hill
Hotel Castle Garden

How to get there

You can reach the Observatory with Bus 21/221 and Bus 212. You need to stop at Normafa, látogatóközpont (Bus 21 and 212) or Csillagvizsgáló (Bus 221, next stop after Normafa, látogatóközpont, right at the gate of the Observatory).

Buses with letter A after their number are running only until the stop Svábhegy. There you have to change to reach Normafa. Some extra buses are also available from the city during the peak hours (210B, 212B).

From Széll Kálmán tér:

  • You can catch Bus 221 or Bus 21 (they share the same starting point) at Széll Kálmán tér (see screenshot below).
  • You can reach Széll Kalman tér in different ways, but if you are lodging on the Pest side, Metro 2, Tram 4, and Tram 6 are the best options.
  • If you are lodging on the Buda side or close to Boráros tér, Bus 212 might be an option for you to reach the Observatory.

From Déli pályaudvar:

  • You can catch Bus 221 or Bus 21. From the metro, cross Alkotás street using the underpass. The bus stop is ~100 m on the left (see screenshot below).
