Description
Pulsations, stellar evolution and instantaneous stellar properties are intrinsically linked by complex physics. Of these, pulsations are the easiest to measure. Here, I will present both the Nearby Evolved Stars Survey's efforts to measure the temperatures, luminosities and mass-loss rates of AGB stars and link them to their stellar pulsations, and my own work on using stellar pulsations to extract statistical masses and ages for AGB stars. By linking these studies together, we can start to empirically bridge some of gaps still remaining in our understanding of AGB stars.
