Description
Currently running two-phase xenon time-projection chambers are at the forefront of the search for dark matter interactions via nuclear recoils in the mass range above a few $\textrm{GeV}/\textrm{c}^{2}$. The XLZD collaboration brings together the expertise of the XENON, LUX-ZEPLIN and DARWIN collaborations to construct a next-generation experiment capable of exploring the WIMP parameter space down into the neutrino fog. Additionally, the experiment will have globally competitive sensitivity to the neutrino-less double-beta decay of $^{136}\textrm{Xe}$ and enable precision studies of solar neutrinos. In this talk, I will present the scientific goals of XLZD, alongside the status of R&D and experimental design.
