Generalization of Glauber's theorem for dark matter axions and graviton detection

Description

We generalize Glauber’s theorem to quantum fields generated by classical sources, including axion dark matter and gravitational waves. In quantum optics, Glauber’s theorem states that a classical current produces quantized photons in a coherent state. Likewise, the linearity of the inverse Primakoff and Gertsenshtein effects leads to coherent photon states in resonant cavities driven by classical dark matter or gravitational-wave fields. We also introduce thermal coherent states as a more realistic description of resonators employed in axion and gravitational-wave detectors. Finally, we derive a general solution for squeezed graviton states produced during black hole mergers.
