Description
QCD axions are expected to both mediate forces between nuclei and interact electromagnetically. Axion dark matter haloscope searches have exquisite sensitivity, but only to narrow bands of axion masses and rely on axions making up a known quantity of dark matter. 5th force experiments do not rely on dark matter and have a wide axion mass range, but are limited in coupling sensitivity. Is there a way to draw from the strengths of both experiment styles? I will explore the prospects for an electromagnetically sensitive 5th force experiment that is complementary to existing techniques.
