Description

Discovering the QCD axion will require a fleet of high-Q cavities, large magnets and cryostats, and background-free single photon detectors. In this talk, I will report on the successful operation of a novel dielectric cavity that is tunable over a 20% frequency range while maintaining high quality factor. Coupled with a qubit-based single microwave photon counter with similarly large frequency tunability, this experiment will have sensitivity to DFSZ axion-photon coupling strengths. I will also present ideas on the processing of quantum data, pre-wavefunction collapse, using current and future quantum computers.
