Description

We study axion-like particle (ALP) production via proton bremsstrahlung in proton beam dumps. Using the Weizsäcker-Williams approximation and the ALPINIST framework, we compute ALP production rates and derive constraints on the product of ALP-electron and ALP-proton couplings, $g_eg_p$, via the decay channel $a \rightarrow e^+ e^-$. We further assess the sensitivity of our results to the underlying QCD model by examining the dependence on light quark PQ charges. Our results are then compared to existing constraints from precision spectroscopy experiments, which probe the same coupling product in the low-MeV mass range, thus allowing for a direct comparison between beam dump and precision observables.
