Description
The Broadband Reflector Experiment for Axion Detection (BREAD) concept employs a novel coaxial dish antenna geometry to convert axions to photons in the background magnetic field of a large solenoid magnet. This detector geometry provides a scalable approach to detection of axions in mass ranges above the reach of the resonant cavity technique employed by the ADMX, HAYSAC and CAPP collaborations and others. We will review recent results from the GigaBREAD experiment which produced the best lab constraints on axion like particles in the mass range 44-52 microeV as well as ongoing R&D in the BREAD collaboration on techniques for achieving sensitivity to the QCD axion in mass ranges up to ~1 eV.
