Description
The ORGAN (Oscillating Resonant Group AxioN) Experiment is Australia's axion haloscope program, searching for high-mass axion dark matter through a collaboration spanning the University of Western Australia and Swinburne University of Technology. Data-taking campaigns to date have placed leading exclusion limits on axion-photon coupling across the 25–112 μeV mass range, and the collaboration is now pursuing several parallel upgrades to extend both sensitivity and frequency coverage.
Central to this effort is ORGAN-Q, the next iteration of our quantum-enhanced search, which will implement a squeezed-vacuum receiver to circumvent the standard quantum limit and accelerate the scan rate beyond what quantum-limited amplification alone can achieve. In parallel, ORGAN-2A plans to employ a DC-tunable rectangular cavity, tuned via a piezoelectric flexure stage, coupled to a kinetic inductance parametric amplifier (KIPA) for low-noise readout. To extend the program to lower axion masses, ORGAN-LF is currently operating at Swinburne University of Technology, targeting the 100–500 MHz range.
This talk presents an overview of these developments, recent results, and the outlook for the ORGAN program.
