Description
Plasma haloscopes offer a compelling methodology for probing higher-mass axions, particularly above 10 GHz---a parameter space strongly favored by recent post-inflationary cosmological simulations. Utilizing wire metamaterial resonators, the ALPHA collaboration is preparing for its Phase 1 run, with the first scientific run anticipated in early 2028, to target the 10 to 20 GHz frequency range. While awaiting the delivery of the main solenoid magnet, we are commissioning our dilution refrigerator and a Josephson parametric amplifier, integrated with a spiral-based tunable wire array resonator, to conduct a dark photon dark matter search. In this talk, I will present the current status of ALPHA Phase 1 and discuss this ongoing dark photon experimental run, which serves as a comprehensive verification of our cryogenic, tuning, and amplification systems prior to magnet integration.
