Description

QCD axions are the resulting bosons from the Peccei-Quinn mechanism which solves the strong CP problem, and are also a convincing candidate for wavelike dark matter. Located at the University of Washington, the Axion Dark Matter Experiment (ADMX) is an axion haloscope currently probing axions at Dine-Fischler-Srednicki-Zhitnitskii (DFSZ) sensitivities from 1.02 to 1.39 GHz (4.22 - 5.75 µeV). ADMX will employ a four cavity system for its next phase, run 2A, which operates at a higher frequency (1.39 - 1.9 GHz) compared to the current operations. Following run 2A, we are considering the potential technological upgrades for future detectors that search the wider axion parameter space.
