Description

The QCD axion is a compelling dark matter candidate motivated by the Peccei–Quinn solution to the strong CP problem. The IBS Dark Matter Axion Group (IBS-DMAG) searches for axion dark matter using cavity haloscopes, where axion–photon conversion is enhanced by strong magnetic fields and high-Q microwave resonators. In this talk, I will present recent IBS-DMAG results, highlighting the experimental techniques that enable high sensitivity, including cryogenic operation, ultra-low-noise microwave detection, and advanced cavity designs. I will also discuss future directions for extending axion searches toward higher masses and broader axion parameter space.
