A welcome reception will be held on the first day of the conference, Monday, June 15th, with an "aperitivo" served to all registered participants.
Friday, June 19th, will be kept free, giving participants the opportunity to explore the city of Milano.
Brera Observatory Visit
As part of the workshop programme, participants will have the opportunity to visit the historic Brera Astronomical Observatory, located in one of the most fascinating cultural sites in the heart of Milan in the morning of Friday 19th.
The visit will take place at 11.
Upon arrival, participants will be welcomed by a member of the Observatory staff, who will provide a short historical introduction and practical orientation. The exhibition of historical scientific instruments is supported by multimedia material accessible via QR codes, allowing visitors to explore the collection independently, in their preferred language, and to focus on the objects and stories that interest them most. (Please note that, for logistical and safety reasons, access to the historical dome hosting the 22 cm Schiaparelli telescope will not be possible).
Participants may also take the opportunity to visit the nearby Pinacoteca di Brera before or after the Observatory visit. The Pinacoteca visit is not included in the workshop programme and is fully self-organised. Admission requires a separate ticket (about €20), to be purchased by participants. The Pinacoteca hosts masterpieces such as Raphael’s The Marriage of the Virgin, Mantegna’s The Dead Christ, Caravaggio’s Supper at Emmaus, and Hayez’s The Kiss, among many others.
Participants who choose to visit the Pinacoteca are kindly reminded that they must manage their time independently and arrive punctually at the Observatory for their assigned group slot.
Further practical details will be provided during the workshop.
