The symposium will take place at two locations: the Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares (IPEN) and the Institute of Physics, both in the Universidade de São Paulo (USP) campus.

Airports
São Paulo is primarily served by three airports. For international attendees, Guarulhos is the most likely point of entry.
-
Guarulhos International Airport (GRU): The main international gateway to São Paulo, located about 30 km from the city center.
-
Congonhas Airport (CGH): Located within the city limits, this airport handles mostly domestic flights. It is much closer to the symposium venue.
Best ways to reach the campus:
1. By Ride-Sharing or Taxi (Recommended for Arrivals)
For convenience and safety, especially when traveling with luggage from the airport, we highly recommend using ride-sharing apps like Uber or 99, or official airport taxis (Guarucoop at GRU).
-
From GRU: The trip to USP takes about 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.
-
From CGH: The trip to USP takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
2. By Public Transportation (Metro & Bus)
São Paulo has an extensive and efficient Metro system. The closest Metro station to the USP main campus is Butantã Station (Linha 4 - Amarela / Yellow Line).
Getting to Butantã Station from the Airports:
-
From GRU: You can take the Airport Express train from the airport to Luz Station, and then transfer to the Yellow Line (Linha 4) towards Vila Sônia, getting off at Butantã. Alternatively, the Airport Bus Service offers comfortable coaches to central locations where you can catch a taxi or the Metro.
-
From CGH: You can take a short taxi or ride-share to the nearest Metro station (São Judas - Blue Line), transfer at Luz or República to the Yellow Line, and exit at Butantã.
From Butantã Station to the Institute of Physics, USP Campus: Once you arrive at Butantã station, exit the terminal and look for the "Circular USP" buses.
-
Lines 8012-10 and 8022-10 are dedicated buses that run continuously between the Metro station and various stops inside the university campus.
-
You will need a standard public transport fare to board, which can be paid with a public transport card (Bilhete Único) or sometimes via contactless payment/QR code apps depending on the current city transit updates.
- Ride-sharing apps like Uber and 99 are convenient from Butantã Station to the Institute of Physics.
Local Tip: Traffic in São Paulo can be heavy, especially during rush hours (7:00 AM–10:00 AM and 5:00 PM–8:00 PM). Please plan your commute to the symposium accordingly!
