There will be a panel discussion on the hot topics and open problems in gravity theory on Thursday, 2 July late afternoon, and a discussion about the influence of AI on fundamental physics research on Friday, 3 July morning. The final schedule of the talks will be announced by mid June. All scientific sessions will take place at the University of Tartu Institute of Physics building (Physicum), W. Ostwaldi 1, Tartu. Online links for hybrid attendance will be shared with the conference participants only.
Posters
Posters contributed by the participants will be available for viewing during the whole conference. The default poster size is A0 vertical. The option of getting a poster printed out locally by the organisers is included in the registration free. Public Lecture
A public lecture will be given on Tuesday 30 June evening at 18:15 at the historic Tartu Old Observatory. Ginevra Braga (Gran Sasso Science Institute) will speak on the topic "From Questions to Discoveries: How AI Can Support Scientific Research". The talk is open to the public and entrance is free.
Social Program
The social program consists of the welcoming reception, the sightseeing trip, and the conference dinner.
The welcoming reception will take place on Monday, 29 June evening at 18:30 till 20:30. The venue will be Sulps Baar, a docked barge on the river. A variety of drinks and snacks will be served including a vegan option. In the middle of the event everybody is invited to participate in the traditional GeomGrav Quiz featuring topical and trivia questions on the kahoot platform. Please bring your internet connecting device (mobile phone, tablet, laptop) to join in.
The sightseeing trip will take place on Wednesday, 1 July afternoon. A coach will pick us up at the Physicum parking lot at 13:30. After driving for about 45 minutres we should arrive to scenic Lake Pühajärv (parking lot). Those who are keen to stretch the limbs a bit, can take a nature walk along the Murrumetsa hiking trail, strolling on 3.5 km lakeside tracks through the Pühajärve manor park and forest area, passing the Pühajärve War Oak. An alternative would be to sunbathe, swim, or eat ice cream at Pühajärve beach, a few hundred meters from the parking lot. The lake water temperature will be Nordic, but if you want to try, you are welcome to bring your swimsuit. The third option is just to relax and get a drink at Pühajärve Spa restaurant terrace or tower. By 15:30 we should be back to the bus, and drive to Tehvandi ski jump tower to enjoy varied nature landscape views from the platform on top (can climb the stairs or take the elevator). Next, at 16:15 the bus will take us to Kodas cider factory. The guided tour in the organic orchards and factory halls will introduce us to the science of making apple cider and sparkling juices. The excursion ends at a table serving a selection of the local producs and snacks. We aim to start driving back at 18:50 to reach Tartu by 19:30 (stops at Physicum and the Tartu city centre).
The conference dinner will take place on Thursday 2 July evening at 19:00 till 21:00. We will be hosted at "Vilde ja Vine" restaurant in the city center (map) for a three course menu. For the main course the participants can choose between the options of corn chicken / local river trout / aubergine stuffed with cashew and herb pesto (vegan), while a glass of house wine is complimentary. A notification about picking the menu choice will be sent soon after the payments deadline.
