Description
A gravitational instanton is a four-dimensional, complete Ricci flat manifold with prescribed asymptotic behaviour (e.g. asymptotically locally flat). They arise in general relativity as saddle points of the Euclidean gravitational path integral. We will describe a new set of a mass comparison theorems for manifolds with non-negative scalar curvature. Their mass is bounded below the mass of a gravitational instanton `ground state' in the same asymptotic class.
