K-ETA Application

Since September 2021, K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) is required in advance to all arrivals in Korea. Nationals, who are eligible for visa-free entry are required to get K-ETA approval in order to board the flight or ship bound for Korea.

Some countries are temporarily exempt from K-ETA, so you can check whether you are exempt or not on the website below. When applying for K-ETA, a 'K-ETA Exemption Eligible' pop-up will appear for countries temporarily exempt from K-ETA.

* Please click here for K-ETA official website.

* Please click here to watch a YouTube video to help with your K-ETA application.

First time in Korea?

1. Non-Korean phone companies may charge very high in Korea so it’s often convenient to order a prepaid Korean sim card (which you can get at the airport). Take a look at Klook for example.

2. Some features of Google Maps are deactivated in Korea. You might find Naver Map or kakaomap (카카오맵) more convenient, even if your language is not Korean.

3. For local transportation you will need a T-money card, although taxis are remarkably cheap in Korea. Check out this link for some more info.

4. The Korean currency is the South Korean won (₩ or KRW). You can avoid currency exchange issues (as well as carrying around cash), by obtaining a digital payments card such as Wise or Revolut.

5. We also recommend installing a translation app in your mobile phone, such as e.g. Google Translate.
